The project “Surveying and measuring maps for building a database of management, conservation and sustainable development of wetlands in the provinces of Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Can Tho city, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tien Giang, Long An and Ho Chi Minh City city” approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Decision No. 3106/QD-BTNMT dated December 31, 2020. The purpose of the project is to investigate and survey biodiversity to investigate wetlands in the provinces of Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Can Tho city, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tien Giang, Long An and Ho Chi Minh City city, contributing to building a “bank” of information, data and basic survey data on biodiversity for each area in the region to serve the management, conservation and sustainable development of wetlands in the provinces of Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Can Tho city, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tien Giang, Long An and Ho Chi Minh City in particular and integrated management of wetlands in the Mekong Delta.

Objectives:

Assessment of the current status of biodiversity in wetland areas in Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Can Tho city, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tien Giang, Long An and Ho Chi Minh city serve for database building, management, conservation and sustainable development in the Mekong Delta region.

Mission:

– Investigate and collect information related to the management, conservation and sustainable development of wetlands at provincial level (6 provinces: Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tien Giang and Ho Chi Minh City) .
– Investigate and assess provincial ecosystems (7 provinces: Soc Trang, Can Tho City, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tien Giang and Ho Chi Minh City).
– Investigate and identify important wetland areas (7 provinces: Soc Trang, Can Tho City, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tien Giang and Ho Chi Minh City).
– Investigate and evaluate the diversity of fauna and flora at the provincial level (7 provinces: Soc Trang, Can Tho City, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tien Giang and Ho Chi Minh City).
– Investigate and identify ecosystems, fauna and flora at district level in 60 districts/city in 9 provinces/cities.
– Develop provincial reports and thematic analysis and evaluation reports at district level: Analysis and assessment of the current status of natural ecosystems in wetlands at district level in 60 districts; Analysis and assessment of the current status of plant species in 60 districts in 9 provinces; Analysis and assessment of animal status in 60 districts in 9 provinces.
