GFD FLIGHT PLANNER

General information

GFD Flight Planner is a commercial software developed by Dong Xanh Consulting and Development Company Limited. The software is used to design flight paths for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The software supports users in designing flight grids and flight paths flexibly in the points, lines, and areas. For the flight grid mode, the software automatically calculates the coverage level to ensure that the captured images can be fed into specialized software (AgiSoft Metashape, Pix4DMapper) to create point clouds and orthomosaic images. The results of orthomosaic images can be used to check suspected forest change points; check corridor areas between natural forests, planted forests, swidden fields, bare land, and residential areas; and create status maps in the construction, transportation, and irrigation.

GFD Flight Planner software also supports the following advanced functions:

  • Import and view vector and raster GIS files in VN-2000, UTM WGS84 projection on the base map to support more accurate flight path planning based on reference data;
  • GFD flight planner is embedded with a digital elevation model (DEM) to support terrain-following flight path planning;
  • Provides reference maps of prohibited and restricted flight areas related to airports according to Vietnam regulations.

GFD Flight Planner is very suitable for creating flight mapping grids for low-configuration aircraft (eg DJI Mavic Air 3) whose default software does not support flight mapping mode.

Functions

1. Waypoint flight plan

  • Flight plan to points, fly routes based on XY coordinates entered by the user
  • Flight plan to points, fly routes based on vector files format entered by the user
  • Save the imported point layer into the software
  • Save the created flight and route plan

2. Area mapping plan

  • Create a flight plan based on area boundaries in vector file format entered by the user (Areas suspected of forest change, forest status to be checked, check planted forests, determine damaged forest area, etc.)
  • Create a flight plan based on areas drawn freely by the user (any area the user has drawn)
  • Save the imported area layer into the software
  • Save the flight plan according to the created area

3. Flight boundary plan (Linear)

4. Support viewing GIS formats imported into the software

  • Display points (XY) from CSV file format
  • Display data as points, lines, areas
  • Support WGS84 and VN-2000 projections
  • Display Google basemap layer

5. Creating a data layer for UAV controllers

  • Export the created data layer on the software for the controller.
  • Provide a digital elevation model (DEM) data layer for the controller to serve terrain flight mode, meeting the flight requirements in mountainous areas with different heights while still ensuring flight safety for the device.
  • Provide a reference data layer on prohibited and restricted flight zones for airport areas according to regulations in Vietnam.
