The forest monitoring system of Tan Mai Company (FMS Tan Mai) developed by GFD is an integrated Remote Sensing and GIS platform that provides forest change monitoring and forest fire warning functions to each forest plot across the entire forest area managed and used by the company.
The main functions of the system:
– Display on WebGIS the entire system of forest plots by branch and management board. Each forest plot shows basic information such as area, compartment, sub-compartment, plot, tree species, and planting year.
– Monitoring forest loss via satellite images: once every 2 weeks, the system will process the latest Sentinel 2 satellite images (10 m resolution) and compare with the nearest image period to deduce the deforestation points.
– Monitoring forest fires via satellite images: 4 times a day, the system automatically connects to NASA’s wildfire detection system to get the latest forest fire points.
– Send forest loss warning: once every 2 weeks, the system sends email and SMS about deforestation warning information to registered accounts. The email will provide a full map of deforested points and a list of deforested points.
– Send forest fire warning: once a day, the system will send email and SMS about forest fire warning information to all registered accounts. The email will provide a full map of forest fire points and a list of forest fire points.
– Decentralization of warnings by user scope: depending on the scope of the account, each user will receive forest loss and forest fire warnings according to the area that the account is assigned to manage.
– Make annual, quarterly, and monthly reports on forest loss and forest fires for each management unit.
The system also provides auxiliary tools such as a quick view of the position of a point with XY coordinates, a quick view of the position of a boundary from GPS, and other software, etc.; In addition, the system also supports the drawing interface of WebGIS and downloading with satellite background, and supporting boundaries.
