ADB funded workshop for Safeguard Policies in renewable energy development

From 18 to 20 October 2011, at Lang Co resort of Hue City, GFD has organized a training workshop entitled “Strengthening the Safeguard Capacity of PC for ADB-supported Renewable Energy Projects”.

Parcitipants include more than 30 staff from EVN and its subsidiaries including: North Power Company, Central Power Company, South Power Company. This workshop is an activity of the technical assistant project ADB TA 7262 VIE “Capacity building for renewable energy” funded by ADB.

The objectives of the workshop are: 

– Familiarize the concerned PC staff with TA Content, ADB Project Processes and Safeguard Policies and their application to ADB supported hydropower development and transmission line expansion and rehabilitation sub-projects.

– Assess the capacity of the PC in complying with ADB Safeguard Policies in planning, implementating and monitoring hydropower and transmission line expansion and rehabilitation;

– Identify the issues in building the safeguard capacity of the PCs;

– Prepare an action plan to resolve the issues to enable the PC develop stronger safeguard policy.
